Zina/Adultery

Zina/Adultery

Family is a basic social institution. Seeking beauty, wealth or prestige other than the blessings of God leads to disillusion and worst, to self-destruction both for men and women. We saw reality today for example women marrying rich arabs frustrated later when they discovered they cannot blend with the culture and money cant make them happy. Or Men marrying for beauty finally realized time changed looks and that real beauty is peace and divine life.

`A woman is to be sought for marriage either because she is beautiful, or wealthy, or of a noble descent or for her good upbringing and religiosity. Seek the last one and you will be successful.' (hadith)

Marriage in Islam is both:

1. 'ibadah (worship) == obedience to God commandment to marry for love and preservation of human race.

2.  mu'amalah == Lawful transaction recognized by the society.

"When a man marries, he has fulfilled half of his religion, so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half (hadith).  Marriage shields him from promiscuity, adultery, fornication, homosexuality etc.,

Gravity of the sin of ZINA (fornication)

The adulterer-fornicator marries not but a woman similarly guilty or an Unbeliever(pagan); and the woman guilty of adultery or fornication, not marries her except an adulterer-fornicator or an Unbeliever. Such a thing is forbidden to the believers.(Quran 24:3)

Notice how Allah allows a Muslim man who commits fornication to marry a pagan woman, and a Muslim woman who commits fornication to marry a non Muslim man.  The reason for that is because in Allah Almighty's sight, those who commit fornication or adultery are no longer Muslims, "unless they repent thereafter and mend (their conduct); for God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful...(24:5)"

A Muslim man or woman who commits fornication or adultery is not any better than the pagan idolater in Allah's sight.  This is a very serious sin in Islam that Muslims must be extremely careful from.  Fornication is Satan's number one temptation to all mankind.  Muslims are ordered to resist it and to not fall into it.

Points to ponder in marrying a non-Muslim.

The verse that allowed it and the CONDITIONS:

...chaste women among the People of the Book, revealed before your time,- when ye give them their due dowers (mahr), and desire chastity (e.g. marriage), not lewdness (e.g. illegal sex), nor secret intrigues(girlfriends) if any one rejects faith, fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good)."(Quran 5:5)

Provided it be from motives of purity and chastity and not of lewdness. BUT if we are not allowed to take the non-believers as friends and protectors, do you think we should consider marrying from them?

"O ye who believe! take not for friends and protectors those who take your religion for a mockery or sport,- whether among those who received the Scripture before you, or among those who reject Faith; but fear ye God, if ye have faith (indeed).  (Quran, 5:57)"

"Never will the Jews or the Christians be satisfied with thee unless thou follow their form of religion. Say: 'The Guidance of God,-that is the (only) Guidance.' Wert thou to follow their desires after the knowledge which hath reached thee, then wouldst thou find neither Protector nor helper against God.  (Quran, 2:120)"

....some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors. (Quran 3:110)"

THE BEST ADVICE:

"Do not marry unbelieving women (idolaters), until they believe: A slave woman who believes is better than an unbelieving woman, even though she allures you. Nor marry (your girls) to unbelievers until they believe: A man slave who believes is better than an unbeliever, even though he allures you. Unbelievers do (but) beckon you to the Fire. But God beckons by His Grace to the Garden (of bliss) and forgiveness, and makes His Signs clear to mankind: That they may celebrate His praise."(Quran 2:221)

May Allah grant unto us life partners and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous, ameen.
