What to say upon hearning the Athan (call of prayer).

1.Repeat what the Mua'ththin says, except for when he says:

Hayya 'alas-Salaah hasten to the prayer and Hayya ' alal Falaah to salavation.

Here you should say :

Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illa billaah.

there is no might no power except by Allah.

( Al-Bukhari 1/152, Muslim 1/288)

2. Wa anaa ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu wa anna Muhammadan ' abduhu wa Rasooluhu, radheet billaahi rabban, wa bu Muhammadin Rasoolan wa bil- Islaami deenan.

I bear witness that none has the right to be worshopped but Allah alone, Who has no partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and His Massenger. I am pleased with Allah as Lord, with Muhammad as a Massenger and with Islam as (my) religion.
(Muslim 1/290)
[ To be recited in the arabic after Mu'athaththin's Tashahhud or the words of affirmation of Faith].
( Ibn Khuzaimah 1/220.)

3. After replying to call of Mu'a thathin, you should recit in Arabic Allah's blessing on the prophet.
( Muslim 1/288)

4. Allaahumma Rabba haathihid-da'watittammati  was-salaatil-qaa'imati, aati Muhammadanil-waseelata wal-fadheelata, wab'ath-hu maqaamam- mahmooda nillathee wa'adtahu, [innaka laa tukhliful-mee'aad].

Oh Allah, Lord of this perfect call and estalished prayer. Grant Muhammad the intercession and favor, and raise him to the honoed station You have promised him, [verily You do not neglect promises].

( Al-Bukhari 1/152, and the addition betwwen brackets is from Al_baihaqi 1/410 with a good chain of narration. See 'Abdul-Aziz Ibn Baz's Tuhfat Al-Akhyar, pg 38).

5. Between the call to prayer and the Iqamah you should supplicate Allah to yourself. Incovation during this time is not rejected.
( At-Tirmthi , Abu Dawaud, Ahmad. See also Al-Albani, Irwa'ul-Gahalil 1/262.)
