Introduction

Leeds Grand Mosque was Founded by Omar Welfare House Trust in 1993.

The Mosque was funded by His Highness Shaikh: Saif Bin Muhammad AL-Nehayyan of AbuDhabi; UAE who converted it from a church to a Mosque in January 1994

Leeds Grand Mosque is close to both universities and the city centre, hence became the focal point for the students as well as for the Arabic and English speaking communities, both males and females. Thus became an international centre, playing an important role in uniting and serving all Muslims in the city. Because of its close location to universities, students and their families mainly attend its activities and services. The Mosque is also a member of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB).
